So... there is something magic about this Friday and we are moving from extreme to high... again. I am a person of gratitude and so... for this I am grateful. It’s Tuesday... the Tuesday before what is, historically, the busiest restaurant weekend of the year, Mother’s Day. How many have shut down... let their people go... and did not make a plan for Mother’s Day... and did not place orders for food and drink? I feel for them... and I feel greatly.
Here is the good news... Roger and I picked up lunch today from Black Sheep Café & Catering and it was delicious. One better... we chose to stop for a few moments and eat our lunch in the park out front at Deepwood. It was a lovely time together and a beautiful spot to lunch. The giant Yew tree there made for a unique companion. We used to have a Yew tree in our yard, even bigger than the one at Deepwood. When it was time for our tree to go... we asked Native Americans to come from Grand Ronde. They ceremoniously removed the tree and promised the wood would be used to make tools from century old methods and processes. Good stuff. Bottom line... take time to stop... have a look around... eat well and be well. The Athena Salmon Salad from Black Sheep was amazing. The Gyro... divine. And the Tuna Wrap... an unexpected surprise. Blackened green beans throughout? Omg! So wonderful... a taste sensation. We are moving forward with much work to do as we navigate the latest edict. We need more staff to cover dine in this weekend. Expletives and prayers... sometimes they go together. May God give us the grace And ability to meet the needs. May God also... provide for those who have struggled to stay afloat. May we all, especially those in the restaurant business, have the ability to staff and serve well. God Bless us all!
